Clear Ceramic Braces
Everybody will agree that having a straight glowing smile will help build your self esteem and allow you to greet the world with confidence and bravado. However not everybody is blessed with perfectly straight teeth and will require braces to achieve this.
Clear ceramic braces offer a much more comfortable and less invasive alternative to traditional metal braces for this teeth alignment process.
But What Are Clear Ceramic Braces?
Clear braces have been developed as a cosmetically and aesthetically pleasing alternative to traditional braces. Basically they are made from a ceramic plastic material that blends in with the color of your teeth – this in turn makes them much more hidden and inconspicuous in nature.
The clear ceramic braces function in a way that is incredibly similar to regular braces and will achieve for the most part the exact same results – only the most serious of orthodontic issues will not be able to be treated by clear ceramic braces and in these cases (as will be advised by your dentist) you will be required to use metal braces to help cure your dental issues.

What Should I Be Wary Of With Clear Ceramic Braces?
Although clear ceramic braces are just as strong as traditional metal braces because they are ceramic they will have a higher component of friction and as such are prone to fracturing if not treated with the utmost care. As well as this they may be a little more brittle than metal braces which can make their removal at the end of your dental treatment a little bit more difficult than normal.
A second issue to consider when thinking about the ceramic braces is the fact that they will stain easily if not cared for properly. This should be a big consideration for heavy smokers or coffee drinkers. By their nature these braces are designed to blend in with the natural color of your teeth, however with excessive consumption of alcohol, coffee or tobacco they may become stained and discolored. This will immediately reduce the hidden nature of these braces and make them plainly visible to the general public. This is not the end of the world however, as your dentist will be able to help refresh them at your monthly checkup.
A further issue to consider in the use of clear ceramic braces is the fact that like traditional metal braces you will not be able to eat and drink everything that you would like to. In these cases you will need to consult with your dentist to make sure you will not damage your braces or reduce the chance that your treatment will fully align your teeth.
Cleaning Your Clear Ceramic Braces
One of the most important things you can do if you choose to undergo a clear ceramic braces treatment to help realign your teeth is to keep them as clean as possible. There are a number of different ways to achieve this end goal however the easiest and by far the most popular is to use a simple electric toothbrush with non whitening toothpaste and lukewarm water to simply clean your braces hopefully four times a day.
On top of this you will be required to ensure you floss your teeth at least once per day. The biggest outcome of not cleaning your clear ceramic braces is that they will more than likely become stained an almost yellowish color which will then make them appear not invisible at all. By keeping these braces clean you will maintain the ability to go unnoticed through your braces treatment.
Choosing Clear Ceramic Braces Over Metal Braces
With the modern advancements in dental technology over the last several years, more and more alternative technologies including clear ceramic braces are popping up as a competitor to traditional metal braces. The very first consideration to keep in mind when considering whether or not to choose clear ceramic braces is whether or not this style of brace is suited to your own dental issue. Make sure you talk to your orthodontist about your specific requirements and whether ceramic braces are suitable to your needs.
If you are given the thumbs up to use clear ceramic braces as a part of your treatment process then there is absolutely no reason why you should not use these. Basically these braces will achieve the same degree of alignment as traditional braces at much the same cost. On top of this they are a much more discreet and comfortable alternative.
